Woman

Woman,
Mother,
Sister,
Daughter,
Wife,
Nurturer, caregiver, preserver of life
Abuse by the very one in whom you trust
And
gave your love,
Your love, an unselfish love
That allowed you to give and give without asking much;
Just a bit of respect, of love in return
For all the deeds you daily perform
To make him feel at home
Now pressured into submission and fear
You have become too weak to care-
For the children you so treasured within your womb,
For the place you once called home.
Trapped within its walls
You have become a prisoner-
A prisoner of your own illusion
Who have refused to see the real situation,
That the place where peace and love once abound
Is now a haunted tomb;
Filled with painful memories, bathed daily by your tears;
Encircling you like midnight darkness
In a world of doom and sadness
Woman you’ve become too scared to even think
That hopelessness exists only in your mind,
That you have the power to find,
Aplace-some place, somewhere in time
Where you can breathe freely again
Without feeling the pain
Of a broken rib;
Where you can laugh and love
And be loved
Without the fear of hurt
Someplace where you can be..........
