My sister posted this link on Facebook, and I just had to share it with you.
Click here: love, Soul ties, Lust, Self Hate
Too many of us, men and women, are walking around pretending to be happy in relationships with people who do not love themselves and so are unable to love us.
We have grown so used to the these relationships that we think we do not deserve better.
When you accept someone disrespecting you by lying, cheating, and abusing you in any way then you are in essence saying to them , "This is me and I am not worth anything."
I was looking at a movie recently in which this woman, who was abusing her body (forcing herself to throw up etc.), said to her husband- I love you. His response to her was - That's the problem, you love me more than you love yourself, more than you love God.

Men Who Cheat:
I was speaking to a good friend last night who made the statement that women in a certain country have seemingly resigned themselves to the 'fact' that ' all men cheat'. These women would therefore date a man even if they have evidence that he is cheating on them. They have no problem whatsoever putting up with his mediocrity, because they have convinced themselves that all men are cheaters. It is one thing if your spouse cheats on you once, but if cheating becomes a habit would you simply sit back and accept it?
Her eyes compelled them to stare, and her mouth laughed
at the madness.
What was she to do with this yearning that forced her to
make prey
Men who would become ensnared in her aura?
She never invited them in, she was never a hunter.
But, seemingly her very presence was enough to awaken
primal urges.
She had once asked a lover what made him fall in love
with her,
He had become animated like a child recounting a trip to
the beach,
For him it was everything about her.
She who had always seen imperfection in herself
Found his response trite, it could not possibly be
everything.
But, he insisted,
So she gave up.
She was interested in him, and convinced herself that she
loved him.
She did nice things for him, nice, that was his word.
He loved her.
He had once bragged to his friends that he had found his
bride.
She was never as sure as he was.
They lasted for about two years, and she went into a
season of deep poetry.
She hid herself from the world.
They thought that she was heart -broken.
She wrote some of her best poems during that time.
During the past three or so weeks I have been constantly reminding myself that it is important to set high standards and to try my best to maintain them.
[...]
I did not say to set impossible standards and die trying to live up to crazy ideals.
You set high standards when you understand that you are meant for great things.
You do not remain in a mediocre job, or relationship because you understand that you are worthy of better.
You push for excellence in your academic career, on the job, and in your relationships.
No situation will every be perfect and we won't ever get it all, but guess what, there is no reason for us to suffer through life.
When a situation or a relationship is below the standards you have set for yourself be bold and courageous enough to walk away.
Know that if He brought you to it He will take you beyond.
You just have to move.
Never settle for second best.
No, no, not the kind you see in movies or hear about in stories but the kind who might be sitting beside you right now.
You might be one and you don't even know it.

You might be one and you don't even know it.
So I
got up this morning and I read a post by my bestie that started me
thinking on …yes you’ve guessed it- Marriage and Divorce.
I sat down and I wrote a very long response
; I made sure I explained everything I said because I did not want to offend
anyone. I lost internet connection and could not retrieve the entry yada yada
yada
So you know what I am not writing anything
long again here it is in a nutshell and uncensored :
Marry someone who makes you happy and
someone who you could grow with and grow old with... Do not allow yourself to
be pressured by church, family nor friends because in about 5 years you will
wake up and realize that you have no idea who is sleeping next to you…if you
still sleep together at all.
It always amazes me that so many people believe that growing up with one parent is the worse thing that could happen to a child.
So many of us have been raised by just our Moms , or our Dads and have turned out to be remarkable people.
People despise single parenting so much that they would rather see a child be raised by two bitter people who have not an ounce of love for each other. They would rather be in abusive situations than take on the 'shame' of being alone.
10 toxic types you shouldn’t date
By Dave Singleton
...
Five toxic male archetypes for women to avoid:
1. Peter Pan. At first, you’re confused; he’s over 30 and (physically, at least) looks his age. And yet, there’s something about him that reads “college dorm” and “secretly wearing green tights beneath his Dockers.” You’ve found Mr. “I’ll never grow up,” otherwise known as Peter Pan — someone who can handle the superficial issues life throws at him, but don’t dig too deep looking for a strong connection, commitment, or an equally mature partnership from him. Toxicity permeates the relationship when you’re the only one who stays grounded, spinning your wheels, and wondering why you can’t land him the way you’d hoped to while he flies off to Neverland again. He’s fun, but if you think that will translate into a long-term relationship, you’re only kidding yourself.

Ok ignore the smiley face I am quite serious.
I have been listening to Pink's "Just Give Me a Reason", and every time I play it the line "we're just bent, not broken" sticks with me . The song goes on to say "we can learn to love again".
I believe though that there are two things you cannot force- love and compatibility.
Now before I ramble on and on the question is this- "When do you consider a relationship bent and not broken?

I am not one for
making New Year resolutions because I think that if you wish to change
something in your life you will just do it; you don’t need a new year to do so.
I do understand that some people just need to mark an ‘official’ start time,
and I respect that. Now, after saying all that I made a resolution- to blog
more. J

hmm not sure if that is a double n or not…oh well
A friend of mine
called me today to look at a post on Facebook . She felt it was in poor taste,
and oddly amusing , I am yet to determine how I feel about the post. Let me
explain.
There is this young
lady boldly proclaiming that she is praying to find a man, I rather not use
spouse because that could be man or woman… so yes she is praying to find a man
in 2013.
Is that faith in God
or desperation?

About six months after my son was born, he and I were sitting on a blanket at the park with a close friend and her daughter. It was a sunny summer weekend, and other parents and their kids picnicked nearby—mothers munching berries and lounging on the grass, fathers tossing balls with their giddy toddlers. My friend and I, who, in fits of self-empowerment, had conceived our babies with donor sperm because we hadn’t met Mr. Right yet, surveyed the idyllic scene.
Ever felt like you were giving your all to something, or someone, but simply not getting back anything?
You would give your last meal to that person if you had to but still they would not be satisfied; they would still stretch out their arms looking for more.
Many relationships are like this, so what do you do?
Seven Things I've Learned From 20 Years Of Marriage

When Jenna Goudreau, who is getting married in a few weeks, recently invited FORBES colleagues to share their best advice for the bride and groom (or couple) on their wedding day, several staffers fired back with one word: “Elope!”
I heartily disagree. Next month, my husband and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and we both look back on the day we got married as the second happiest day of our lives. (The first was when our son was born, one day before our fifth anniversary.)
Testimonies: Dating an alcoholic
by Sarah Cook
How do you know when you're dating an alcoholic? Better yet, how do you avoid dating one in the first place?
The answer is fairly simple. If you're in a relationship with someone who's always drinking, drunk, or drained from drinking the night before, odds are, they have a problem with alcohol.
Preparing To Become A Wife – 10 Tips For Single Women

By Tanika Jones
Many women dream of that special day. You know the one, where all of the attention is on her in that gorgeous white dress. The flowers, the decorations, the fancy cars and let’s not forget, her Prince Charming.

So today I was wondering what if the ex of my best friend (if my best friend were a girl) were to approach me and say' "...let's get together, I think we can work"; what would I do?
I would do what I would with any other guy; simply ask him- "Why?"
Then, if he gives a good answer, and I am intrigued because I am attracted to him too then I would think of other things like:
There is probably nothing in life so wonderful, so magical, so delicious as the way you feel the first few weeks or months when you’re falling in love.
The world looks more beautiful. You’re filled with optimism and excitement about each day. Even food tastes more amazing (if you have an appetite, that is — you may feel you could subsist on love alone!). In short, each day is pure bliss. And all because you’ve found the person who really “gets” you… the person you were meant to be with.
Welcome, my friend, to The Honeymoon Phase.

You could say it’s my job (as a dating coach) to try to understand men and, in the process, help YOU do the same…But, truth be told, it’s more of an obsession.
I can’t walk down the street without studying the way men walk; How they do a double-take when they notice an attractive woman.
I can’t watch an episode of reality TV (read: The Bachelor) without analyzing what motivates the contestants to make the decisions they make.

Do Men Like Strong Women?
Some men claim there is nothing more attractive to them than a strong, independent, and intelligent woman. They claim that they would choose this type of woman over a weak-minded, easily led woman. Yet women who are described as strong and independent often assert the opposite — their backbone and self-determination causes issues with men and they are eventually passed over for women with less fortitude.
