Hon. Yvonne Francis Gibson

Hon. Yvonne Francis-Gibson (Vincentian) was born on March 26th, 1931.

She mothered many but gave birth to one son.

Mrs. Francis-Gibson began her teaching career at the age of thirteen and would, over the span of her career, teach at :

The Kingstown Methodist School
Lowmans Anglican School
Kingstown Anglican
Barrouallie Anglican
Belair Infants
Belmont Infant
Brighton Methodist (Head Teacher)
Kingstown Methodist (Head Teacher)

Her teaching career ended in 1985.

She was an activist and so was greatly involved  with the Trade Union Movement. In 1985 she became  the first co-ordinator of the Women's Desk, and would later serve as Minister of State with the responsibility for Women's Affairs and Education.

After her second victory at the polls she became the first female to be appointed as Minister of Health and the Environment, this was in 1994.

Her active political life came to an end in 1998 because of ill health.
