De Risin'

De Risin'- Adriana S. King

It mus be hard watching de walls tumble.
It must be harder listening to bull dozers rumble;
in the yard next door to see country bookie
putting up wall house spoiling yo scenery.

Ah know it must hurt yo real bad, yo still cant see
How all man jack have picney ah read fo degree;
To come home and tek dey modder out yo kitchen.
Ah know yo puzzled, ah kno yo hear the clock tickin.

Yo rather flee to avoid this travestry;
De day poor people children in big wuk all over de country .
What a calamity! What a disaster! Sweet relief if
If yo ask me, yet man and oman ah grieve.

We nah have no caste system,
yo just lacking reason it was bound to and compel to happen
Give a man a fish feed him for a day
Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Long time now yo saying de worl nah level
Bear yo grind, and learn to be humble;
But now yo realize yo glory days are over, soon to be up
Yo bawling blood and running wild "De system corup".

Ah could lie and tell yo calm down tek it easy
But ah go shame meself to not see this as ah victory.
To demand peeplo to march in place yo have to be mad!
Poor people rising up dem getting on bad.

So move aside kindly step out de way
Buying allies is no longer the order of the day.
Yo either fo progress or yo living in de past
Things moving along yo better try ketch up fast.
