Vending Machine

Vending Machine, Adriana S. King

My life is a vending machine
For cheap talk and small laughs
You can stuff you pockets
With my soul’s contents
The night I did that thing
The days I stole her stuff
The lines I left at his bedside

My life is a vending machine
Kick it hard enough in any spot
And you can scrape me up off the floor
Me with all my secret fears
The way my heart races when he comes to mind
The way my lip quivers when his touches mine

My life is a vending machine
Stand by long enough and you will see
The way they come and use me up
For a moment or two I am all that matters
There is nothing sweeter than what I give
My dreams are the purest
My whispers are to be cherished

My life is a vending machine
But today I am all out.
