Black and proud?

There is a group on Facebook called- "Black is really beautiful, and we must be proud of it", needless to say I love the group.

It never ceases to surprise me though, the mixed reaction I, and others would get when we post images from this group.
I remember one person going as far as to say that it was "reversed racism", I thought about this for a while and then asked myself, "Why think of it as reverse racism rather than a removal of self hate?"

For centuries the black race has been taught how not to love itself, one would assume that any effort to remove this venom would be welcomed...sadly this is not so.

To ask black people to picture themselves as being beautiful, and worthy of all things majestic is not the same as saying to them that they should treat all other races as inferior.

Why do we allow ourselves to think so negatively?

Are black people truly convinced that they contain nothing good, so that if someone were to try to show them beauty in their own they MUST find a way to remain mentally enslaved...to remain the down trodden?

Are we waiting on some other race to say to us; "Don't worry, go ahead be proud of who you are, we won't be offended."?

How could a race be so full of self hate?  How could a race be so timid... so afraid to acknowledge their own beauty?

"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds." Bob Marley
