Why is it that whenever people decide to do good for their communities or fellow man most people start arguing about what the government isn't doing?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the common man helping the common man; and everything wrong with not joining in when you see an obvious need.
What kind of society would we be if we are able to do good for someone else but instead take the "well it is not my responsibility approach" ? The government collects taxes for that right?
Sadly the people in need don't argue about where the help is coming from, they don't care if it is the government, the church, a community group, or you ...when someone needs help (someone to spend a few minutes with just talking ; a hot meal ; a pair of shoes ...), it matters not if you are paid by the government to assist or your heart told you to take action.
Maybe they could sense a difference though... just maybe it would mean more to them if they knew that their help came from someone who simply has a kind heart and genuinely cares about their well being.
You don't have to have a lot to be able to give, some times just a kind word is enough to brighten someone's day... you just need to give it.
People need People
